i like watercolor because it’s quick, light, and it has this delicate quality to it since everything is pretty much a wash. the painting on the right is by pol ledent and is the inspiration for my painting, on the left.
this watercolor took two tries and about an hour. i tried to just eyeball it but quickly realized that it would be far better to sketch a few points of reference. the painting is so dark because i took this photo immediately after completing it. the thing is soaking wet, transparent, and still clinging to the darkwood board i painted it on.
